Outgrowing Fish Allergy?

Who would have thought that my now 30-year-old son would continue to be outgrowing his food allergies? Morgan recently underwent a series of blood and skin prick tests to determine which foods he might be able to add into his diet.

For those of you who read this blog regularly, you know that he has been able to add in eggs at the age of 14 into his diet. In the last few years, he’s been able to add in almonds and hazelnuts. He previously had VERY high IgE and skin prick flares and wheals in allergy testing. It seemed like an impossibility for him to ever be able to eat these foods. Yet after food challenges that went great, he continues to eat all of them without an issue.

His most recent battery of tests show that Mollusks and maybe even Tuna is a possibility to add back into his diet!

The main issue with the mollusks and living in Colorado is that it’s VERY difficult to get these foods without them having cross contact in a display case in the grocery store. However, Morgan has scheduled a food challenge later this year to try Scallops. His Tuna results were also very close to zero, and he’s thinking of also trying that in another challenge.

We are thrilled that he continues to outgrow more and more foods!
